The Difficulties of Telecommuting in Costa Rica

Costa Rica News – Telecommuting gets complicated by the deficiencies in Internet in Costa Rica.

Many entrepreneurs point to problems in connectivity as one of the limitations to allowing employees to work from home.

Workers say when the Internet at home stops working they can simply go to a public place with wifi or connect to their cell phone’s hotspot.

Employees can easily find solutions to the problem.

There is no doubt telecommuting offers benefits to the employer and employee, such as saving money and time on commuting and the overhead and legal work required to set up an office.

400 companies were surveyed and it was found that 21% applied remote work at some point, but 71% of them said that telecommuting accounts for less than 10% of the payroll.

As Internet connections become more stable this will bring job opportunities to those in remote locations.
