Who Will Build New Hospital in Puntarenas, Costa Rica?

Costa Rica News – Five companies are interested in building a new hospital in Puntarenas. The work is valued at $178 million, the largest investment the CCSS has made in the last 30 years.

It will be a larger, more modern hospital than those in Heredia and Alajuela.

Much of the old hospital in Puntarenas was destroyed with the Nicoya earthquake in September 2012. The 280,000 inhabitants of the province depend on this service. The Caja promises to launch the tender in December and have it awarded in the second half of next year.

The idea is to have it up and running in 2021. It will be complete with a medical team ready to assimilate to a first world center, a true modern hospital. The new building is to be 70,000 square meters of construction with 64 offices, 12 operating rooms and 350 beds.

Medical specialties that were not previously available will be included, such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Medical Oncology, Oncology Surgery, Gino-Oncology, Otorhinolaryngology, Radiology and Hemodynamics.
